Footprints on the Moon

Like many starstruck children growing up, I dreamt of being an astronaut. However, childhood dreams give way to career goals, and life changes one's priorities. Yet, when I learned of a lunar mission launching on 14th July, I made sure to witness this historical event. The wonderment it inspired within me, as I walked into the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR), brought back nostalgic moments. The wish to be an astronaut was rekindled, and in that moment, I understood the power of visuals. This is what started my journey as a photographer, and once again, this whole experience left a lasting impression on me.

A month of planning and six hours of scouting later, I managed to catch a fleeting 40 seconds to witness and create history through my lens. As the countdown began, and excitement grew exponentially, the rocket took off, leaving behind a massive burst of fumes in its wake! Time stood still, all eyes locked onto the space shuttle as it defied gravity and accelerated, and in moments, Chandrayaan 3 was gone. After a few seconds, the high-decibel screech of propellers followed the departure of the monolithic rocket - entirely mesmerizing the viewers with its grandiose launch!

Footprints On The Moon is an anecdote to cherish those 40 seconds from the launch after which Chandrayaan 3 disappears to land on an alien soil, never to be seen again... leaving only its legacy, like a footprint left in the soil - one that ignites dreams, rekindles memories, and creates history. This exhibition represents the deep impressions the launch had on over 1.4 billion people glued to their seats as Chandrayaan 3 set on its path to reach the dark side of the moon and leave the first footprint of India on lunar soil.
